Our History

The history of Bhutan Shooting Federation dates back to 1988 when His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo commanded that Air gun shooting to be introduced in schools, so that our school children could participate in regional and international Olympic Games. It was first introduced in Punakha School but shooting, as a sport did not pick up until 1997 when it was once again introduced under the Royal Patronage of His Highness the Trongsa Penlop.

Since 1997, the BSF has existed as “the National Sport Governing Body responsible for the promotion, development and governing of organized, recreational and competitive target shooting in and for Bhutan. The Federation represents all Bhutanese Sport Related Firearm Owners and is responsible for the Development, Protection and Promotion of all Sport Related Firearm Owners rights, property and their sport.”
